Culture, habits, desires, and religious teachings. Each has its own promises to provide solutions in life. But they rarely unite in one voice, instead, they clash against each other. There are always certain problems for which all of them do (can)not provide solutions. Then silence reigns, as if a problem will disappear by itself. Or, rather, it becomes a source of new problems as promises of solutions are tarnished, either by practice, misinterpretation, or even interests.
But humans never give up. Asking questions, challenging, finding their own ways, whether successful or not, they continue to seek solutions. They reconcile hope and reality. Teachings and behaviors. Guidances and thoughts.
Kineforum presents this short film compilation to the Madani Film Festival. We would like to take a peek at those intriguing questions, those that may appear in our daily lives in religious communities—but for one reason or another rarely addressed. Some questions lead to dead ends, some are naughty, some are touching, some are beautiful, and some others are even tragic. Some just look for a solution today, others want to reach the ultimate. This compilation intends to present these diverse feelings on one occasion through films from domestic and abroad. Hopefully, it is rich in flavors.
See you at the Madani Film Festival, from us kineforum!
