The Indonesian film industry has recently shown encouraging developments. Indonesian film viewers have been flocking to watch movies in theaters made by Indonesian directors. However, the production of feature films is still too centralized in Jakarta, which indeed draws talent from across Indonesia. Even so, a number of films have been produced mostly, if not all, by crews who are local talents. These films are made in regional languages. If this positive trend continues to grow, it is not impossible that there will be new centers of Indonesian non-Jakarta films.
