A couple of low-ranking civil servants—one old, another young—meet a wood collector who lives like a hermit in the middle of the forest near Takengon. The young doesn’t understand what is believed by the old. The old doesn’t want to make the young understand. It seems that only the wood collector can show what their roles are in a society famed for its religiosity.
